- Dazaifu Tenman-gŅ
A shrine in Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. The deity enshrined here is Sugawara no Michizane. It is crowded on New Year’s day with worshippers who come to pay their first shrine visits of the year. It is also a famous spot for visits such as prayers for academic success.

- Kumano Stone Buddha
An Acala image (8m) and a Vairocana image (6m) are carved in a huge stone wall. They are designated important cultural properties of the nation. They continue to give a sense of deep faith to this day.

- Fuki-ji
A Tendai Buddhist temple in Fuki, Bungo-Ttakada City. One of the few temples in Western Japan displaying the characteristics of the Heian period architecture. The grand hall is a designated national treasure.

- Onta no Sato
Onta no Sato is located in the Sarayama area in the mountain ravines of Tenryo (Shogunate dominion) Hita. Several potteries can be found here. It became famous through the folk art movement led by Muneyoshi Yanagi.
About 60 mins. from the Yufuin IC on the Kyushu Expressway and on an open road after getting off at the Hita IC.
- Fukino Waterfall
The waterfall located in Fukino, Ajimu-cho, Usa City. It is one of "The Three Usa Waterfalls".

- Kokonoe "Dream" Big Suspension Bridge
The largest suspension bridge in Japan that people can walk across. The 360 degree panorama that can be seen from it spreads out far. The red leaves that surround it in autumn are beautiful.

- Ao no Domon
The cavern gate at the bottom of the Kyoshuho peak, which stands out by the Yamakuni River in the Yaba Gorge. In August, it is crowded with visitors who come to see the bright red leaves.

- Beppu Jigoku
Beppu boasts the greatest discharge amount of hot spring water in Japan. The unique hot springs such as Umi Jigoku with blue water, Shiraike Jigoku with white water, and steam-blowing Kamado Jigoku are also designated as places of scenic beauty by the national government.

- Aso Kusasenri
Aso Kusasenri-ga-Hama is a prairie that spreads across the side of Mt. Eboshidake. It is a popular tourist area scattered with hot springs, tourist and leisure spots, and more.

- Aquarium "umitamago"
An aquarium located along the Betsudai National Highway, which connects Oita and Beppu. About 15,000 organisms of about 500 species can be seen here. It is connected with Mt. Takasaki by a pedestrian bridge over the national highway and can be accessed on foot.

- Centleisure Kijima Kogen
Located between Beppu and Yufuin. Attractions including Jupiter wooden roller coaster can be enjoyed here. There are also various kinds of attractions.

- Murata Timehills
Several shops selling products of Sansou Murata are scattered on the premises of Beppu Bay Service Area on the Kyushu Expressway. Visitors can freely browse through the Murata shops while enjoying a full view of Beppu Port on a clear day.
